The Canary Islands are a Spanish territory but they also are an Autonomous Community with a considerable legislative autonomy due to insularity and great distance from the Spanish mainland.
Under this autonomy, the Isles benefit from a facilitated tax regime for autonomous and dependent employment as well as for private investments. Furthermore, there is no VAT, but a similar tax with a single rate of 7%.
The Isles enjoy a great climate, mild with spring-like temperatures all over the year. Temperatures range from a minimum of 18°C (64.4 F) in February to a maximum of 35°C (95 F) in July / August. The 3,000 sunshine hours per year make Canary Islands the European Area with most hours of sunlight, with almost non-existent rainfalls.

The result of this combination is a microclimate, with water temperature that ranges from 18° to 23°C (64-73 F) all through the year. The external climate varies among the different islands, but rarely drops below 18°C (64 F) in winter or rises above 35°C (95 F) in summer.
